about

Karo Pelc is a Polish-born filmmaker and visual artist based in Vancouver. Her work explores immigrant identity, belonging, nostalgia, and the female gaze through narrative and documentary filmmaking.

After earning a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University, she began her career in film production in Vancouver before completing an MA in Creative Production at the Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin. Her thesis examined the emotional state of “belonglessness” experienced by immigrants navigating life between cultures.

Her debut narrative short, Psiapsi Na Wsi (2025), premiered as part of the Official Selection at Mirada Corta. In 2025, she directed Hej Hop, a short film supported by the Canada Council for the Arts that follows a group of teenage Polish folk dancers in Alberta.

Karo is currently developing new narrative and documentary projects focused on cultural memory, diaspora, and underrepresented communities.
